The challenges of working with clients living with Opioid Use Disorder are complex for substance use counselors and providers of all kinds. Society often judges the users, and providers struggle to understand how best to work with Opioid-use clients. In this course we’ll very briefly examine the effectiveness of current medication options for Opioid Use Disorder. We’ll cover the importance of being part of a multi-disciplinary treatment team and explore how to address a harm-reduction versus abstinence-based model as well as the use of naloxone..
