This presentation will provide an updated overview of PTSD, the neurobiology associated with it, and some specific treatment approaches. Additionally, several clinical considerations will be discussed, including the presence of dissociation, substance use disorder, and reflections regarding PTSD across the lifespan.Much has changed in our understanding of post-trauma stress disorder since the term first came into use in the 1970’s. What was once the provenance of traumatized war veterans is now considered only one of many types of traumatic experiences that can result in mental health difficulties.
