This presentation will review the diagnostic criteria for hoarding disorder, as well as the typical profile of individuals who have the diagnosis. We will discuss the areas of the brain impacted by the disorder and how this may change in older adulthood. We will review known consequences associated with hoarding disorder and interventions used in the past, as well as Evidenced Based Treatments being used today (CREST). We will discuss the do’s and don’ts of engaging someone with hoarding disorder in treatment, look at case studies and review before and after photos of dwellings of individuals who have engaged in treatment.
