What Providers Need to Know about Food Insecurity
3 CE Credits offered: NASW / LICSW / LDAC / LMHC / Nursing
DESCRIPTION: Food insecurity affects communities locally and globally in ways that are becoming increasingly apparent to health care providers. In this webinar we will discuss how food insecurity is defined and measured, and how it relates to diet quality, nutritional status and health outcomes.
The first half will focus on the U.S. and what solutions exist for addressing some of the most pressing local and regional issues. The second half will use data from all countries of the world to see larger patterns and trends in the availability, access and use of foods needed for a healthy diet. This webinar will further health providers’ awareness of actions that are being taken to mitigate food insecurity locally, regionally, and globally.
